Hershey's, Pond's and a Rosary

A Hershey bar, Pond's cold cream, and a rosary were three staples that I would see on my beautiful grandma's nightstand when we we would vacation together during my childhood. I know that my grandma left a positive effect on my life, but I don't know why I vividly remember the details that surrounded her or why these memories bubble up into my mind randomly. I'm grateful because they remind me of her ability to add some glitter to any type of grind. She once commented on my cheekbone structure as a pre-teen and I remember feeling like I just landed a multi-million dollar Revlon contract. (We're talking Cindy Crawford in the nineties power in my impressionable mind.) The picture that I'm including is a credible example of her presence and sense of style. She wore an Anne Klein broche and sunglasses to a barbeque where we sat at picnic tables and ate corn on the cob and spare ribs. My advice to anyone reading this is to eat a little chocolate, moisturize your beautiful face, and count your Hail Marys on your rosary and you will channel a little bit of the grand Alice Hering. Be kind.
