I took the Roosevelt Tram over to Roosevelt Island. This is a view of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge from the Tram. The Tram is located on 59th and 2nd, and is the price of one Metro ride. There are six landmarks on the island, including New York City's only landmarked ruin, which used to be the Smallpox Hospital , which opened to care for people with contagious diseases in 1854. Other landmarks include: Strecker Laboratory, The Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park, Southpoint Park, future Site of Cornell Tech Campus, and Tramway. The Tram served as the only direct link to Manhattan for 13 years, and was the first commuter tram in the United States. Loved yet another history lesson. For more info: go to .
